Start of the PER-MOVE Project: Mobility Solutions for Better Connectivity Between Rural and Urban Areas
The international PER-MOVE project brings together partners from Slovenia, Croatia, and Hungary to develop and test sustainable, inclusive, affordable, and environmentally friendly mobility solutions for connecting urban and rural areas.
Challenges of Daily Mobility
The PER-MOVE project focuses on improving mobility in underdeveloped and rural areas. The main challenge is weak connection of rural areas to cities, leading to high car dependency, which in turn causes higher costs, social inequalities, and increased pollution.
Pilot Areas and Concrete Measures
The project is implemented in three pilot areas: Škofja Loka (Slovenia), Požega (Croatia), and Szarvas (Hungary). It contributes to reducing car dependency and increasing the use of sustainable transport modes, while improving connectivity between cities and rural areas, leading to a higher quality of life.
Through pilot activities in these areas—such as shared micro-mobility, demand-responsive transport, and improved public transport—we will implement concrete solutions that can also be transferable to other regions.
International Partnership
The project is carried out by a consortium of five partners:
- Municipality of Škofja Loka (Slovenia) – lead partner
- Development Agency Sora (Slovenia)
- Institute of Traffic and Transport Ljubljana (Slovenia)
- Local Development Agency Požega (Croatia)
- City of Szarvas (Hungary)
Launch in Škofja Loka
The project started with a kick-off meeting held on March 17–18 in Škofja Loka. Partners aligned key goals, exchanged experiences, and explored good practices in sustainable mobility. They also toured the city with the electric minibus Jurij, showcasing a successful example of micro-mobility management.
The meeting also marked the beginning of the joint development of pilot activities, which will be implemented in the coming months.
Basic Project Information
The project runs from March 1, 2026, to February 29, 2028.
The total project budget is €796.776,00, of which €637.420,80 is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE programme.
