About the project:

The project focuses on improving mobility in underdeveloped and peripheral areas, where poor connectivity leads to a high dependence on cars, resulting in higher costs, social inequalities, and increased pollution.

Peripheral and underdeveloped areas often lack reliable and environmentally friendly connections to nearby cities, limiting access to services and increasing transport costs. Limited transport options frequently make it difficult to access services, jobs, and social life.

The PER-MOVE project aims to improve connectivity between urban and rural areas and reduce car usage. Partners from three countries are testing e-bike schemes, demand-responsive transport, and improved public transport, co-creating these solutions together with users and local authorities. Joint strategies and guidelines will enable the transfer of the most effective solutions to other regions facing similar mobility challenges.

The solutions will be tested in three pilot areas: Škofja Loka (Slovenia), Požega (Croatia), and Szarvas (Hungary), with the aim of transferring good practices to other regions in Central Europe.

The PER-MOVE project is implemented within the Interreg Central Europe programme, as part of the priority “Cooperating for a greener Central Europe.”

Main activities:

  • comprehensive analysis of existing mobility situation in the project areas,
  • engagement of local communities, key stakeholders, and target groups,
  • preparation of local plans to improve sustainable and inclusive mobility,
  • development of tools for preparing local plans for sustainable and inclusive mobility,
  • preparation and implementation of pilot actions to improve mobility in Slovenia, Croatia, and Hungary,
  • monitoring and analysis of data on the performance of pilot actions,
  • development of solutions to improve public transport systems and micromobility in rural areas of Central Europe,
  • promotion of the concept of sustainable and inclusive mobility.

Expected results:

  • reduced dependence on cars and increased use of sustainable transport modes,
  • improved connectivity between urban and rural areas, leading to a higher quality of life,
  • implementation of pilot activities in three areas (shared micromobility, demand-responsive transport, improved public transport),
  • awareness-raising campaigns for sustainable mobility,
  • transfer of knowledge and results to other regions.
